Did you cause it? NO.
Can you change it? NO.

LIFE IS SHORT. hold hands, not grudges. max out your passport. grow older without growing up. do something that scares you. get your hands dirty. adopt an animal. shave your head, at least once. make time for silly. savor every sip. walk, don't drive. skip, don't walk. do it for love, not profit. be the first to apologize. plug the meter for someone else. plant lots of trees. learn to dance a jig. listen first, talk second. build communities, not empires. thank a teacher. STAY AWAKE FOR IT.

Polar Bear Club move over…there’s a new crowd sharing the cold water. “Freeze for Life” is a combination of diverse water sports and dedicated athletes who brave frigid waters in order to raise money for cancer and educational charities. The event started in December 2008 at the Riviera Dock in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and grew exponentially with time. This past year ripper Mark Ruck man handled some small waves in the cold waters of Wisconsin while being towed on his longboard behind a Mastercraft towboat, bundled up from head to toe with only his eyes visible. Lucky for him, after his surf sesh, there was a steaming hot tub beach-side waiting for him at the end of his “heat”. Ruck warmed up to prepare himself for his heady jam session later that night at the Freeze for Life after party downtown Lake Geneva. Even the landlocked find a way.

Brendan Munson; the brother to my home girls Brittney & Bailey

Happy 3 Years to Brendan May!
Today marks the 3 year anniversary of Brendan May’s transplant. Brendan had a bone marrow transplant on February 28, 2007 at the age of 17. He is currently recovering from that and continues to do well. Brendan was originally diagnosed in October of 2001 (age 12) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He endured 3 1/2 years of chemo and went off treatment in January, 2005. In August, 2006, Brendan relapsed. He again endured six months of chemo before undergoing a bone marrow transplant, which was his only hope for recovery. The donor was unrelated which put him at higher risk. The transplant was on February 28, 2007.

"The Third Coast"

It is believed that Great Lakes breakers were first surfed nearly a century ago, and quite possibly even earlier by natives. However, the first significant wave of participants arrived in the 1960s. The California surf trend was spilling into Middle America, and small surfing communities flourished across the Great Lakes. Eventually surfing spread throughout the region, and today surfing on the “Third Coast” is more popular than ever.
The significant size of the Great Lakes is what makes surfing on them possible. The Great Lakes combined consists of six quadrillion gallons of water and more than 10,900 miles of shoreline. The Great Lakes are the largest fresh water system on earth and have more coastline than the East and West coasts combined. Rather than waves being created by distant storm systems, waves on the Great Lakes are formed by localized winds. Because of the ongoing improvements in wetsuit technology, surfers are now able to comfortably ride lake waves year-round, including in winter and freezing temperatures.
Lake surfing has been featured by national and regional news sources such as The CBS Early Show, The Today Show, Newsweek, National Public Radio, newspapers like The Chicago Tribune and The Indianapolis Star, and going back to our roots, The Honolulu Star Bulletin. Its popularity has recently become more significant than ever. The idea of surfing on freshwater lakes in the heartland of America, especially in the winter season, tends to catch peoples’ attention.
